Futures Theatre Company was founded in January 1992 to promote plays written by women. It was during this early period that the company produced three plays that were successfully performed on the London Fringe. In 1995 Futures expanded to include schools touring productions and drama based workshops, engaging with young people in mainstream, special needs and community settings.

Futures have developed a strong reputation for delivering high quality theatre productions and workshop programmes for young people addressing issues relevant to their lives and developed with target audiences. Using this successful approach the company has reached over 60,000 young people with its performances and drama workshops, working across London and the UK.

Over time Futures have continued to grow and develop new programmes of work. A natural progression the education programme which now engages with targetted groups of vulnerable women delivering projects in partnership with women's refuges and outreach organisations.

Futures have always supported theatre productions with drama based INSET training for teachers, this too has developed and Futures now use their transferable skills to deliver drama based training for professionals and undergraduates within the education, health and social care. This provides the company with a unique opportunity to share their experiences and skills in working with young people and vulnerable groups.

Most recently Futures have developed a participation programme with the aim to create and deliver work with their local community, primarily the South Bank and Waterloo.
