Hitting Home
Adapted from Andrea Ashworth’s autobiography 'Once in a House on Fire' Hitting Home explores the issue of domestic violence from the perspective of a young person, telling a powerful and inspiring story of heightened happiness, destructive sadness, and triumph over abuse, poverty and racism. Hitting Home recently toured nationally in Summer 2008.
Due to growing demand we are currently offering programmes of work to schools, health professionals and community safety teams exploring the issue of domestic violence and safer relationships using excerpts from the play and accompanying interactive workshops.

“I hate to think that there are families going through what we went through, but I’m grateful to know that my family’s story might be able to make a difference because of the exciting, crucial work of Futures Theatre. I wish my sisters and I had been inspired to talk about what happened to us when we were younger, with all the terrible things hidden behind the old veils of shame and, of course, fear. My mother is especially proud to know that our experience is promising to help others, through 'Hitting Home'. Futures is a blast of the freshest, most life-saving air. Thank you for involving me in this fabulous work.”
